Out in the Streets with Ashley’s Back to Nature Day 41

ImageNot much happened with the biz today. I’m being lazy, although I have guilt for doing so. I don’t know how to allow myself time out without that voice inside my head that says I need to be working, producing, making money, coming up with new ideas. Wish I knew how to turn that voice on off so I could enjoy some rest and maybe have some fun.

The end of the year is just too quiet for me. A lot of businesses are completely shut down until January 3rd. The world seems to stop from Thanksgiving until the new year every year. Wonder why that is?

Out in the Streets with Ashley’s Back to Nature Day 40

Maybe, just maybe, my label problem is resolved as far as the smearing and smudging goes. I still have the task of creating the ad copy, printing and putting the labels on all the jars and bottles, but if the smearing and smudging problem is resolved, I’ll be very relieved and less uptight. I’m looking forward to the day when I can hire someone to do this for Ashley’s Back to Nature.

When I called Hewlitt Packard this morning to see if we could fix the smearing/smudging label issue, I felt as if I was talking with Howard on the Andy Griffith Show. His voice was very boring and he was slow, but towards the end of our issue, I felt his personality coming alive. He started out making me yawn and ended up putting a smile on my face, so it was a good technical call experience for us both.

One thing I can be sure of… there will always be issues to resolve in running a business. My challenge is learning to be more patient and hanging tight until I can fix the issue without over reacting.

I created a new perfume oil today, “Peace and Tranquility.” It’s enriched with the essential oils of lavender, lemon, blood orange and eucalyptus. The carrier oil is sweet almond oil which is rich in vitamins and proteins. There is no alcohol to dry out your skin in my perfumes, only nourishing essential and carrier oils that nourish your skin.

My Rosehip Regenerating Face Serum is selling well, so I made another fifteen jars today. I can see a positive difference in my skin since using the serum. The flab on my face is now firm and my skin just looks better.

I’m really looking forward to 2011 ending and the beginning of 2012. I’ve got a lot to accomplish.

It happened again! The second laser printer I purchased within the last few weeks that only prints in black and white. What is so hard about putting BLACK AND WHITE printer on the box? When I went to Radio Shack this morning, I told Fred I needed a color laser printer for my aromatherapy business, yet he still sold me a black and white printer.

One thing I take tremendous pride in, no matter what I’m selling, is knowing my products inside and out. My customers appreciate and pay me for my knowledge. When I took the useless printer back, he actually tried to sell me another laser printer. No thank you buddy. You wasted several hours of my valuable time and I had to lug your heavy printer up and down flights of stairs. I’ll buy my COLOR laser printer somewhere else, if they exist.

I should have been able to come home after another laser printer let down and start making skincare products, but I wasn’t able to do so. My expectations sometimes get so high, when I’m let down, it’s like all the air coming out of a balloon. I need to change this bad habit.

I will be so glad when everything gets back to semi-normal again and I can go out and sell my lovely aromatherapy products that nourish and heal.

After taking photos today of my First Aid Kit for the Winter, I put it on my website. When I go to view my website on Foxfire, everything is just how I designed the pages. When I view through internet explorer, it’s a disaster. The paypal buttons are on top of the text and everything is out of order. I looked a few minutes ago through internet explorer and my First Aid Kit wasn’t even showing yet and my product pages were still a jumbled mess. Yet when I veiw through Foxfire, walla, there is the First Aid Kit. Does anyone reading this blog have any suggestions on how I can fix this problem? I called the folks I built my website through, they are clueless. They blamed it on the internet explorer because they didn’t want to be bothered. Their customer services skills are lacking.

Below is  the ad for my First Aid Kit for the Winter I designed today.

This 4 piece aromatherapy kit will make it much more comfortable for you to get through a long, cold winter.

Kit Includes:

KureAll Skin Balm – Great for dry, chapped lips.  1/2  oz. jar
Smooth as Silk Face Moisturizer – Great for wind chapped, dry, blotchy skin.  1.7 oz jar.
Whipped Creme Body Butter Lotion – Great for dry, itchy skin due to winter wind, cold and heat. Lemon, Lime & Blood Orange Scent.  4 oz. jar
Breathe Easy – Enhanced with eucalyptus & peppermint essential oils to clear stuffiness & open nasal passages. 1/3 oz. roll on bottle.

 $32   –   You Save $12

My photo didn’t come out as I would have liked, but it will work until I can take a better image.

Out in the Streets with Ashley’s Back to Nature Day 36

Today being Christmas, I took the day off from Ashley’s Back to Nature, so there isn’t much to write about at the moment.

Year after year I hear people say “I’m so glad the holidays are over.” Why do we make such a fuss over the holidays, yet we can’t wait til they’re gone?  One of the sad things about the holidays are the amount of people dreading to see their family. Humans are surely strange.

Of course, New Years Eve has yet to pass, but I for one will be glad when it has. I’ll be in bed before 2012 rings. I plan to work smart and hard  to observe Ashley’s Back to Nature blossom and flourish while creating natural and organic products safe for people, pets and the environment.

It was a choice of either selling my aromatherapy goods in “The Field of Mud” or “Becker’s Flea Market” on the morning of Christmas eve. The advantage of selling in The Field of Mud is it’s free and there is more foot traffic because of higher visibility. The disadvantage is the mud, having to use an outhouse and no structure. When I drove by, it was even muddier than normal because of all the recent heavy rain, so I decided to set-up at Becker’s. I did fairly well considering there wasn’t much foot traffic. I prefer going to a bathroom where I can flush the toilet and my shoes aren’t soaked in mud.

Now it’s time to really think inside the box because people will have the same after Christmas excuses. No money. The thing is, people get colds in the winter, so my “Breathe Easy” is a must because the eucalyptus and peppermint essential oils open your nasal passages if you’re all stuffed up and/or congested. The “KureAll Skin Balm” is great for dry, chapped lips among many other things and the “Whipped Creme Body Butter Lotion” is excellent for skin that tends to be dryer in the winter. Of course, you’ve got to have some “Smooth as Silk Face Moisturizer” for a wind chapped face. I just thought of it, I’ll make an aromatherapy “Winter First Aid Kit” with all the above items. I’m such a wiz.

What would I do without myself?
