Out in the Streets with Ashley’s Back to Nature Day 48

I had an abundance of fun out in the streets selling Ashley’s Back to Nature natural and organic aromatherapy products today. The weather was exceptionally nice for this time of year, around 60 degrees and the sun was shining, no dreary clouds. People were in good moods. My energy level was high, so that always helps me sell better. When I’m tired, I don’t sell as well because I can’t think on my feet and my low energy comes across as bland.

It was well worth my 52 mile round-trip drive to Murphy, NC. I gained ten new clients/friends and one new wholesale account. My roll-on perfume oils are selling very well. I sold twenty 1/3 oz. bottles today, such as Peace & Tranquility with lemon, lime, blood orange, pink grapefruit & eucalyptus oils… Patchouli… Lavender… and Stress Relief with lavender & peppermint. One lady purchased 12 bottles. My perfume oils contain no alcohol which dries out your skin. I use either jojoba or sweet almond oil for the carrier oil in my perfumes. They nourish your skin and the essential oils make you smell like a breathe of fresh air.

I came home, checked out all my jars and bottles to make sure the labels were still in good order, a few will have to be replaced. I wish the labels weren’t such a challenge with the scrapes and smudge marks that happen in my travels. One day I will resolve this issue because my products have to be perfect on the inside and out when I hand them over to my clients/friends.

Out in the Streets with Ashley’s Back to Nature Day 40

Maybe, just maybe, my label problem is resolved as far as the smearing and smudging goes. I still have the task of creating the ad copy, printing and putting the labels on all the jars and bottles, but if the smearing and smudging problem is resolved, I’ll be very relieved and less uptight. I’m looking forward to the day when I can hire someone to do this for Ashley’s Back to Nature.

When I called Hewlitt Packard this morning to see if we could fix the smearing/smudging label issue, I felt as if I was talking with Howard on the Andy Griffith Show. His voice was very boring and he was slow, but towards the end of our issue, I felt his personality coming alive. He started out making me yawn and ended up putting a smile on my face, so it was a good technical call experience for us both.

One thing I can be sure of… there will always be issues to resolve in running a business. My challenge is learning to be more patient and hanging tight until I can fix the issue without over reacting.

I created a new perfume oil today, “Peace and Tranquility.” It’s enriched with the essential oils of lavender, lemon, blood orange and eucalyptus. The carrier oil is sweet almond oil which is rich in vitamins and proteins. There is no alcohol to dry out your skin in my perfumes, only nourishing essential and carrier oils that nourish your skin.

My Rosehip Regenerating Face Serum is selling well, so I made another fifteen jars today. I can see a positive difference in my skin since using the serum. The flab on my face is now firm and my skin just looks better.

I’m really looking forward to 2011 ending and the beginning of 2012. I’ve got a lot to accomplish.

Out in the Streets with Ashley’s Back to Nature Day 12

I’m sitting here on my bed surrounded by labels that are screaming to be put on jars of KureAll Skin Balm and Rosehip Rejuvenating Face Serum, which I’ve made over the last couple of days. The jars can keep screaming, I’m going to blog.

Today went well, I went door to door selling to my regular clients. They love me and I love them. Selling to clients is much easier than going door to door to businesses and not knowing what you’re going to walk into, people looking at me as if I’m selling crack cocaine. I never go door to door to homes. The first door I would knock on would be a serial killer that hates women and nature.

The downer today came when I found out the new laser printer I purchased only prints in black and white. What is this, the year printers were first introduced? How lame. Why would anyone want a printer that only prints in black and white? The advertisement I saw for the printer, nor any material that came with the printer ever mentioned it was only a black and white printer. I had to haul the box up and down flights of stairs, felt like it weighed 100 pounds. Boy, was I fuming.

When I called and found out the printer didn’t print in color, I went a little crazy. All those hours wasted when I could have been putting labels on the jars that are screaming at me right now. I asked the lady from the Phillipines how I was going to be compensated for my lost time and aggravated back. She said she could send me a free 3 piece luggage set,  a set of speakers or a mystery gift. I opted for the 3 piece luggage set. When she started sounding like a staged script, I asked her nicely if we could just communicate with each other like normal people. I heard her chuckle.

Well, back to the screaming labels.

Smiles and sweet dreams til next time,
